Designed by our pro riders, they are our top of the line snowskates, offered in signature shapes and sizes to fit all riding styles. Although cheaper, we make sure our team models live up to the hype by including all of the key features that make our snowskate construction renowned.

SNOWSKATE SIZE. HOW MUCH DOES IT REALLY MATTER?

Although height and foot size can be factored in when choosing your snowskate, it mostly comes down to your own personal style of riding. It's generally accepted that a smaller snowskate will be easier to flip and have more of a skateboard-like feel, whereas bigger models offer more riding stability, rail balance and forgiveness. That said, all Ambition snowskates are designed to perform in all aspects of snowskating and that's why it truly comes down to personal preference.

AS2/ AS3 / AS4 SHAPES. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Although they all share the same tip height for pop, our specific snowskate shapes differ in tail / nose cut radius.
AS2 | The AS2's wider cut radius helps your popping foot sit comfortably on the tip of the tail/nose, while providing improved pop and scooping power in the corner pockets.
AS3 |  The AS3's rounder skateboard-like contour mimics the feel of skating on snow and helps with the release of flip tricks in the corner pockets.
AS4 | The AS4 combines the squarer tail of the AS2 with the rounder nose of the AS3 to create a balance between both shapes, in a slightly old-school looking shape.
 

HOW LONG DOES A SNOWSKATE LAST?

How long a snowskate lasts really depends on how you use it; jumping down stairs will put more abuse on your board than riding a flatbar in your backyard. Some riders can use the same snowskate for years, whereas more aggressive snowskaters will go through a couple every season. Usually, a snowskate will be replaced because it has become too slow and scratched. Quick maintenance tips such as base and grip repair will go a long way in extending the life of your snowskate. All in all, don’t sweat it too much and just got have fun!
 

DO I NEED STUDDED GRIP?

Studded grip is highly recommended for riders with prior skateboarding experience. The extra grip is truly a game changer in terms of trick execution and consistency. Beginners will enjoy the stock foam grip when first learning to ride down hills and hitting ride-on obstacles. As they transition to skateboard-influenced tricks, studded grip becomes key to the snowskate experience. It also protects the stock foam grip, extending the life of your snowskate.

HOW DURABLE IS STUDDED GRIP?

Studded snowskate grip is very durable, often outlasting the snowskate itself. Depending on their layout, pieces may wear off from impact, but sticking them back down is usually an easy and quick fix. Most riders will transfer their studded grip with a heat gun when switching snowskates.

WILL STUDDED GRIP WEAR DOWN MY SHOES?

Although it looks like it would rip a hole through your shoes after a few kickflips, studded grip actually barely wears down footwear at all, especially compared to traditional skateboard griptape. You can use the same shoes for years when snowskating with studded grip.

WHERE SHOULD I SNOWSKATE?

Snow falls everywhere and covers the whole landscape, and that’s why snowskating is so fun. Grab a shovel and get creative in your backyard by building some ramps, ride your favorite skatepark, bomb some hills in the woods, skate your favorite street spot; the world is yours! HOW DO YOU GENERATE SPEED?

When first starting out, it helps a lot to get speed from a hill, slant or starter ramp. It’s a great way to get used to the basics of riding and hitting ramps without effort in the backyard. That said, most advanced snowskaters will often ride on flat surfaces, wether it’d be at the skatepark or a street spot. With practice, you will learn to thrown down and generate your own momentum, much like you would on a skateboard.

CAN YOU PUSH AROUND ON A SNOWSKATE?

Some days, conditions will be just right and the streets will be covered in snow, allowing you to push around just like you would on a regular skateboard. That said, these days are the exception and snowskating cannot be relied upon for transportation. Snowskaters will usually push in between tricks when doing lines, but not to initially generate speed.
 

ARE SNOWSKATES ALLOWED ON SKI RESORTS?

While some resorts allow them, general rule is that single level snowskates aren’t allowed on the slopes. By design, they do not meet the resort requirements; no metal edges, no bindings, etc. Easiest way to find out is to simply call and ask first.
 

WHICH SHOES SHOULD I WEAR SNOWSKATING?

We recommend using a good pair of skateboarding shoes along with warm winter socks when out snowskating. These give you the most board feel and are definitely the best combination with studded grip. The increasingly popular “all-weather” or “winter” skateboard shoes on the market (Ex. Vans MTEs) are an acceptable solution, although they may feel too grippy in combination with studded grip. They’re a good option when riding foam grip, because of their grippy soles, but be aware that they will wear down your foam much faster than traditional skate shoes. Boots are similar, while their bulkiness and thickness greatly reduce board feel. That being said, remember that footwear is a matter of preference and not as crucial if you're just starting out.
 

HOW DO YOU REPAIR GRIP WEAR AND TEAR?

When snowskates impact the ground with force at certain angles, snow can get pressured in between the board and griptape, causing the foam to peel up. These issues can also be caused by snowskaters using their board as a shovel, which although tempting, is a very bad idea. We recommend fixing the grip peel before it the situations worsens, using most kinds of glues for overnight repair (gorilla glue, superglue, shoegoo, epoxy, etc.). Beware that very grippy shoes or boots will also often damage the foam grip and cause tearing. See footwear recommendations in the section above.

HOW DO YOU REPAIR A SLOW AND SCRATCHED SNOWSKATE?

The inevitable scratches from rocks, pavement or sharp obstacle edges will eventually slow your snowskate down. Thankfully, a quick scrape from nose to tail with an exacto or razor blade will fix the board’s base and help bring it back to speed. Performed regularly, this maintenance tip along with being mindful of where you are riding will greatly extend the life of your snowskate.
 

HOW ABOUT WAX?

Ambition Snowskates feature a non-porous extruded base material, which does not hold in wax. Although waxing your snowskate will help temporarily, we don’t recommend it as we chose this base material to keep maintenance at a minimum and let the riders focus on riding. Scraping your base as detailed above will prove more efficient and less time consuming.
