À l'époque des "magiciens" et des "mystiques" autoproclamés, un personnage effrayant et saisissant a vu le jour dans les sombres régions sibériennes de la Russie du début du XXe siècle : Raspoutine. On dit qu'il a fait preuve d'une série de pouvoirs surnaturels dans sa petite enfance et qu'il a lentement accédé à la notoriété en tant que moine orthodoxe russe. Au fil du temps, il a acquis la réputation de posséder d'étranges talents, tels que la prophétie et la guérison, et il a rapidement été surnommé le "moine fou" dans les cercles russes. Au début des années 1900, l'empereur Nicolas II et sa femme Alexandra font appel à Raspoutine car leur fils Alexei est gravement atteint d'hémophilie. L'étrange capacité de Raspoutine à guérir le garçon le rapproche tellement de l'empereur de Russie qu'il utilise bientôt ses prétendus pouvoirs de prophétie pour consulter le tsar sur les grandes décisions du gouvernement. Craint en raison de ses étranges capacités surnaturelles et de ses relations occultes, Raspoutine était déjà un personnage très controversé, mais son pouvoir sur le tsar et la tsariste au pouvoir lui a valu une longue liste d'ennemis désespérés. Several attempts on his life failed, including a stabbing that left his guts hanging out of his belly before being sewn up. It wasn’t until 1916 when a group of Russian nobles conspired to silence the man once and for all. The legends tell of Rasputin being poisoned by enough cyanide to kill 5 men but strangely going unaffected. Determined to finish him off they shot him in the back several times, but the creepy madman refused to die. The group attacked the injured mystic and clubbed him into submission, castrated him and then tied his hands, rolled him up into a carpet and threw his body into the Neva River. But, incredibly, Rasputin broke out of his bindings, escaped the wet carpet and tried to swim to safety. But the frozen icy surface of the wintery river brought about his ultimate demise. The man who wouldn’t die is depicted on this soft Theories tee, casting a hypnotic gaze and conjuring powers from beyond the earthly realms. Or he’s just doing some Tai Chi.
